  • Kevin Bateman

    FAAV MRICS – Director 

    Kevin is a qualified chartered surveyor, Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers and a member of the British Institute of Agricultural Consultants. Kevin specialises in a number of professional practice areas including Landlord and Tenant issues, Farm Business Management, Environmental Stewardship schemes and Planning matters.  Kevin is secretary of the Western Counties Agricultural Valuers Association (WCAVA) and an examiner for the Western Counties Examination Group.  Kevin is also a panel member of the Agricultural Lands Tribunal (ALT).

  • David Hosegood

    FAAV – Consultant

    David is a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers.  He is the third generation of his family in this business, following on behind his grandfather, Stanley, and his father, Jack.  He began his professional career with Bruton Knowles in Gloucester, returning to the family business on Exmoor after the 1967/68 Foot and Mouth outbreak.  He has been working on Exmoor and the surrounding area ever since.

  • Julie Bateman

    BSc (Hons) – Director

    Julie is wife to Kevin, a qualified teacher, forest school leader, Director of Bateman Hosegood and a farmer. After 15 years in teaching both abroad and in North Devon she now focusses on supporting the team at Bateman Hosegood and managing the farming enterprises at Netherstonhaies. She ran a forest school in the local school and is raising their two girls which is almost a full time job in itself. She has been heavily involved in Educational access developing a wide profile of visits to their farm from local schools, family learning groups, after school groups and special educational needs.

  • Kate Thomas

    Rural Surveyor MRICS FAAV

    Kate grew up on the family farm in Mid Devon and enjoys the rural way of life, on completing her degree at the University of Reading she joined Bruton Knowles in Taunton as an assistant land agent, training for membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors before joining Humberts.

    Kate qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 2007 and is also a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers. She has experience in estate management, farm agency, rural planning and all aspects of rural valuation work.

    When not working Kate has three small children to keep her busy.

  • Emily Webber

    Rural Consultant

    Emily is a fourth generation farmer’s daughter who has gained much of her farming and agricultural knowledge and experience from living on and farming an Organic National Trust Farm on Exmoor with her partner and parents. Emily is a probationary member of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers and will specialise in Compensation, Planning and Tennant and Landlord matters as well as consulting on a range of rural and agricultural issues.

  • Gail Watts

    Office PA 

    Gail has over 30 years’ experience working within administrative rolls starting out as a clerical assistant for BT, she then moved into the banking world before taking a break to have her two children. She returned to work as office manager for a property development company. Gail is now working as Kevin’s Personal Assistant and being Devon born and bred has good knowledge of the local area. As her children have now grown up, her weekends are often spent with her Exmoor pony Tor, which she took straight from the herd and thought it would be a good idea to try to break! During any spare moments she enjoys socialising with friends or country walks with her crazy Labrador.
